How to play
You are the warehouse worker, and every level has the same goal: push each crate onto one of the marked target squares. It does not matter which crate ends up on which target. You can walk around freely and push a crate by stepping against it, but you can never pull one back, so every push needs a little planning. A crate turns green and shows a tick while it stands on a target.
The game has 40 original levels in four tiers – Starter, Easy, Medium and Hard – and a Random puzzle mode that builds a new, always solvable puzzle whenever you want one. All levels are open from the start, so you can leave a level that has you stuck and come back to it later.
Rules
- The worker moves one square up, down, left or right. Walls block the way.
- Walking into a crate pushes it one square, but only if the square behind it is free floor.
- You cannot pull a crate, and you cannot push two crates in a row.
- The level is solved the moment every crate stands on a target.
- The game counts moves (every step) and pushes (steps that move a crate).
- Par is the smallest number of pushes that can solve the level. You earn three stars for solving it in par, two stars for staying within 30% above par, and one star for any solution. Steps without a push never cost a star.
- Your lowest pushes and lowest moves are saved for each of the 40 levels.
Controls
- Keyboard: the arrow keys or W A S D move the worker; hold a key to keep walking. Z, U or Backspace undo, R restarts, L opens the level list and M toggles sound.
- Touch: swipe anywhere on the board to step, and keep dragging to take more steps. Tap a floor square and the worker walks there by the shortest route without pushing anything. Tap a crate next to the worker to push it one square. An on-screen D-pad can be switched on or off below the board.
- Mouse: click a square to walk there, click a crate beside the worker to push it, or drag a crate along a straight line: the worker walks behind it and pushes it as far as you drag.
- Undo is unlimited. A whole walk or crate drag is undone in one step, and Undo straight after Restart brings your moves back.
Tips and strategy
- Corners are traps. A crate pushed into a corner that is not a target can never leave it. The game marks such a crate with a small red exclamation mark; you can turn this warning off.
- Walls are almost as dangerous. A crate against a wall can only slide along that wall. Push it there only if a target lies on the same wall line.
- Think backwards from the targets. Look at each target and ask from which side a crate can be pushed onto it. Often there is only one way in, and that tells you where the worker has to stand.
- Fill the far targets first. A crate parked on the target nearest the entrance can wall off every target behind it.
- Decide which crate goes first. When two crates are in each other’s way, one of them usually has to be parked in open floor for a while.
- Keep lanes open. The worker needs room behind a crate to push it. Do not seal a corridor you still need, and never build a two-by-two block of crates and walls.
- Use undo freely. It costs nothing. Trying a line and stepping back is part of solving.
- For three stars, count pushes, not steps. Walking is free, so take the long way round if it saves a push.
Frequently asked questions
Can every level be solved?
Yes. Each level was built by starting from the solved position and playing backwards, then checked with a separate solver. Random puzzles are made the same way in your browser, so they are solvable by construction.
What exactly is par?
Par is the minimum number of pushes needed, found by a complete computer search. It counts pushes only; the steps you walk in between are not part of it.
How do random puzzles and seeds work?
Open the level list, choose Easy, Medium or Hard and select New random puzzle. Every random puzzle has a seed such as M-48213. Enter the same seed again and exactly the same puzzle is rebuilt, which makes it easy to share one.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, in this browser only: stars, best results, settings and the level in progress together with its undo history. If storage is blocked, the game still works but forgets everything when you close the page.
Why are all levels unlocked?
There is no hint button, so a locked level could leave you with nothing to play. The tiers tell you how hard a level is; the order is up to you.
